Whether you enjoy a stroll in the park, a swim in the pool, playing soccer with friends, or a round of golf, West Shore Parks & Recreation (WSPR) has programs and facilities for everyone. A part of WSPR, the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre is comprised of an arena, swimming pool with a waterslide, sauna and steam room, weight room and fitness studio. Other WSPR amenities include the Q Centre, Juan de Fuca Par 3 Golf Course, a BMX track, an artificial turf field, grass playing fields, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, lawn bowling, velodrome cycling track, playgrounds, a lacrosse box, specialized community rooms and more. Also located on the property is the WildPlay Element Park, the place to be for adventure seekers. The park features an adventure course with exciting obstacles that will test your balance and your nerves, ziplines through the forest and axe throwing.

West Shore Parks & Recreation is governed by the West Shore Parks & Recreation Society’s Board of Directors, made up of representatives from the City of Colwood, the City of Langford, the District of Metchosin, the District of Highlands and the Town of View Royal. Each municipality contributes, through tax requisition, toward the operation of the parks and recreation facilities.

Starlight Stadium

Starlight Stadium is a state-of-the-art sporting facility located at City Centre Park in the heart of Langford. Recently expanded in 2019, the outdoor stadium is now the largest in the region, with a premium grade artificial turf field and seating for upwards of 6,000 spectators, including 18 VIP suites.

The Stadium is home to Canadian professional soccer club Pacific FC, as well as Rugby Canada and the Westshore Rebels (CJFL). Starlight Stadium has been the host of several international test matches through the Americas Rugby Championship and hosts the annual HSBC Canada Women’s Sevens. The Stadium is anticipated to be a hub for various international sporting events in the future.

The area around the pond features picnic tables, lamps with speakers and Wi-Fi portals, a 25 foot by 16 foot stage and one of two new concession stands. Other onsite amenities include a DJ booth, cocktail bar and public parking. The Sarah Beckett Memorial Playground, also built in 2019, is located adjacent to the stadium grounds.

Starlight Stadium is a bustling centre of activity on game days, with food trucks, craft breweries and family-friendly entertainment on site.

Westhills YMCA-YWCA

Located in the Westhills neighbourhood, the YMCA/YWCA opened in 2016 and features a lap pool, lazy river, warm water therapy pool, waterslide, health and fitness facility, daycare centre and free Wi-Fi.

Island Training Centre

At 55,000-square feet with 3 field turf and a multi-use soft court, the Island Training Centre is the largest indoor field house in British Columbia. Located in the Kettle Creek neighbourhood, the facility offers a variety of opportunities for sports development including soccer, futsal, basketball, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, rugby, a batting cage and TOCA.

Bookings are available for programs, summer camps and parties and events through the Island Training Centre’s website. The Island Training Centre is owned and operated by the Canadian Premier League soccer team, Pacific FC.

The Q Centre

The Q Centre (formerly Bear Mountain Arena) is a premier mid-sized arena located behind the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre at 1767 Island Highway in the municipality of Colwood. With fixed seating for 2,300 (including 10 box suites), arena floor seating for up to 860 and additional standing room for 480 on the concourse, the Q Centre can host any type of event from tradeshows to sporting events to concerts.

The Q Centre is home to the Victoria Grizzlies Junior A hockey club and the Victoria Shamrocks Senior A lacrosse team.

The Q Centre is operated by West Shore Parks & Recreation.

Bear Mountain Clay Courts

Bear Mountain Resort is home to western Canada’s largest indoor/outdoor red clay tennis facility. The tennis centre is open to the general public as well as resort guests for 90-minute booking periods.
