Hallboro School

The old one-room Hallboro School is a classic prairie school structure. It is located along Highway #5, eleven km south of Neepawa.

The school was built in 1911 after fire claimed the original building. It was moved one mile west to this location where it has been restored to its original state complete with blackboards, windows, wainscoting and flagpole.

The teacher's desk contains a donated copy of an old class-room register from 1915 and various items of nostalgia belonging to the owners. Visitors often remark that it takes them back to their childhood in this or in other country schools.

During the summer, the school takes on the role not only as a guardian of prairie education's traditions and history, but also as a shop where Brenda Nelson displays her handmade pottery.

Visitors are also welcome to visit the school by appointment or on a casual basis. All are welcome to come and see the old Hallboro School, a small piece of Manitoba's history.
