Langford City Hall Information

Effective end of business day, March 20, 2020, Langford City Hall will be closed to the public. Wherever possible, business functions and services will continue using telephone, virtual meetings and by appointment (if absolutely necessary). 

You are welcome to contact us (250-478-7882) during our regular business hours, Monday to Friday, 830am-430pm for questions or to arrange payment and collection of permits. You may also access permit applications and other useful resources on this website.

Council and Committee Meeting Procedures

  • We have reduced Council meetings to once per month.
  • As Council Chambers are currently closed to the public due to COVID-19, we have added a call-in option for the public to attend and participate in Council meetings. Please check our homepage ( for the call-in information on the day of the meeting you wish to call-in for.
  • We have amended our procedure bylaw to allow Council to call in for meetings until the end of the WHO pandemic.
  • We have temporarily suspended all committee meetings.

Application and Building Plan Drop-Off

  • Whenever possible, all interactions with contractors etc. will take place via phone or email. 
  • If documents need to be dropped off at City Hall, it can be done through the existing drop box, or in the case of building plans or other larger documents we have set up a larger box in the first floor lobby for them to be dropped in. 
  • We ask that you phone us to let us know that your documents have been dropped off and we will then go downstairs and retrieve them (if you wish to stay until we have collected them you may, but you must do so from outside the building looking in through the front door in order to maintain a safe physical distance).  

Permit Pickup & Payment Processes

  • When a permit is ready for pickup and/or an in-person payment is necessary, we will contact you to schedule an appointment.
  • To limit the number of people coming into City Hall, appointments are only for those people that need to pay in person

Accepted Payment Methods

  • Cheque payments can continue, either through the drop box outside, or by appointment in the office. 
  • Interac debit payments will be only as absolutely necessary, and by appointment only.
  • Cash payments will not be accepted at this time.

Property Tax Payments

  • We are currently not accepting in-person property tax payments.
  • Payments may be made via online banking, or cheques can be left in our secure drop box at the front door of City Hall. 

Business License Applications

  • The City of Langford welcomes new business to our community and we encourage you to continue to submit business license applications during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please note that during this time of uncertainty there may be an interruption or delay in the processing of business licence applications.  Thank You.
