Physical Distancing Activities
We recognize that many of our residents may be feeling lonely or isolated while at home during the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. With many of our usual recreation facilities and social activities closed or canceled, we have compiled some ideas of other activities you can do while maintaining physical distancing.
Outdoor Activities:

- Audible has made many of their children's audiobooks available for free
- Both Pacific FC and Westshore Town Centre have colouring sheets available to print

- Participate in an online yoga class from Yoga with Adriene
- Check out a virtual museum tour
- The Metropolitan Opera is streaming performances of some of their most famed shows for free
- Explore five of America’s National Parks from the comfort of your home
- Scholastic is offering free online courses for children to keep them learning while they aren't attending classes
- Skype or Facetime with friends and family
- Explore the YouTube Learning webpage
- Host a remote Netflix Party! Download this Chrome extension, and have a long-distance movie night with someone special. The extension synchronizes video playback and includes group chat.
- Explore some of the world’s famous historic and cultural heritage sites
- Check out this list of 125 ideas of things to do with your kids to keep them entertained while at home
- The Cincinnati Zoo is hosting a Home Safari Facebook Live event daily at 3pm
- Over 2000 free online courses from Harvard, MIT and more are available online
- Watch an educational Ted Talk

- Shaw is allowing access to Shaw Go WIFI network hotspots for everyone
- The Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park have a Rhino webcam available to view
- Lululemon has lots of free virtual fitness and yoga classes
- View the Emily Carr Collection online via the Royal BC Museum
- Check out Virtual Disney World! Virtually experience Walt Disney World and Disneyland attractions, shows, hotels, monorails, trains, boats, park areas, and more within an interactive 360º video environment.
- While the Royal BC Museum is closed during the COVID-19 outbreak, you can still enjoy their online programs, from materials for learners of all ages to videos, talks with curators and more.
- Disney has launched www.DisneyMagicMoments.com, a website where you will find fun and engaging Disney content, stories and resources — for free! — from Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars, to Walt Disney Animation Studios, National Geographic, Disney Parks and beyond.
- The Disney Parks Blog also has lots of family-fun activities and online resources.
- CTV Vancouver Island is live-streaming their 5pm, 6pm and 11pm newscasts for everyone.
Mindfulness Activities:
- Check out free relaxtion and meditation resources made available by Calm
- Go for a walk
- Read a book
- Do a deep clean of your home while purging items you no longer need
- Take a hot bath
- Exercise daily
- Find a quiet space to meditate
