Current Year Property Tax Info

New for 2021: The Home Owner Grant program is now fully administered by the Province, not the City. All Home Owner Grant applications are submitted online through the province's website. The home owner grant application process has changed, but program details and eligibility requirements have not changed. For more information, please visit their website or call 1-888-355-2700.

City Hall Information

The 2021 property tax due date is July 2nd, 2021. City Hall remains closed for walk-up traffic due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Access to City Hall is by appointment only. Tax Timelines

  • 2021 Property Tax Notices will be mailed out in late May and are due July 2nd, 2021.
  • 2020 Retroactive Home Owner Grants must be submitted via the Province's website (available in early 2021) by December 31st, 2021.

Claiming Your Home Owner Grant

Property Tax Deferment

  • For available programs. visit gov.bc.ca/propertytaxdeferment. The Provincial Tax Deferment program is fully administered by the province, not the city. All property tax deferment applications are submitted online through eTaxBC. For any questions, please contact the province at l-855-355-2700 or taxdeferment@gov.bc.ca. 

2020 Penalty Information

2020 penalties will be applied as follows:

Class 1, 2, 3 & 9 Properties

  • August 1, 2020 · 5% Penalty
  • October 1. 2020 · Additional 5% Penalty

Class 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 Properties

  • October 1, 2020 · 5% Penalty
  • December 1, 2020 · Additional 5% Penalty

  • Click here to sign up for eNotices - Registration deadline is April 30th, 2021. All requests received after this date will be enrolled for the 2022 tax year.

Outstanding Utility Balances

  • Please note that as of January 1st, 2021, any outstanding 2020 utility balances with CRD Water, Corix West Shore Environmental Services, or Sustainable Services LTD (SSL), will be added to your property tax account and are subject to daily interest.
