Langford Volunteer Fire Fighters Association

Langford Volunteer Fire Fighters Association comprises the majority of the 60-plus department membership. The Association is involved in many community and sports events such as the annual Christmas Parades and assisting in the Annual Chili Cook Off. We also actively fundraise for those less fortunate than ourselves but from whom we draw inspiration, such as Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

About Langford Fire Rescue

Approximately sixty-two men and women serve as active firefighters. Langford Fire Rescue is considered to be a composite Fire Department: it has both paid members and volunteers. Our paid members include administrative staff and management such as the fire chief, assistant chief, and the fire chief's secretary. There are also career firefighters and dispatchers represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters. Department volunteers are represented by the Langford Volunteer Firefighter's Association. All three elements of the department serve the City of Langford in many community functions.

Being a firefighter is much more than just putting out fires. We are very active in the “First Responder” program where we provide pre-hospital care often before an ambulance arrives. We also provide Auto Extrication, Public Education, Rope Rescue, Water Rescue and many more activities for the community.

Langford is a flourishing city with a population of over 25,000 within approximately 41.46 square kilometres (4146 Hectares). Ranging from a growing industrial and commercial sector to vast residential and park areas, the area is very diverse. This diversity means we are equally trained to combat structural fires and wildland interface fires.

The Langford Volunteer Fire Fighters Association is aided greatly by our Women's Auxiliary who have been raising funds for and assisting Langford's firefighters since the 1950s.

The Langford Fire Protection District was formed in 1947 and the first fire department founded under Chief Bayles. In 1992, the District was incorporated under Chief Lequesne, and under Chief Beckett Langford became a City in 2003.
