Unified Office

As one of British Columbia's most innovative municipalities, the City of Langford adopted advanced computer technology to increase the efficiency of City Hall.

With the assistance of Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Microsoft, Langford City Hall has not only condensed its need for physical document storage and increased the ease by which City staff are able to retrieve and share documents, but also made City Hall more environment-friendly by drastically reducing its paper usage, floor space requirements and power consumption.

When physical paper copies of documents are needed, City staff use HP Multi-Function Printers as part of the solution arrived at by City Hall and HP. To effortlessly integrate the departments and processes of the municipality, Microsoft SharePoint is used to store, categorize, and access information securely. Server virtualization technology is used to consolidate and reduce physical server requirements. Both HP and Microsoft has done case studies on how Langford is leveraging IT Technology.
