BC Transit Expands in Langford / Westshore December 29th

BC TRANSIT EXPANDS IN LANGFORD/WESTSHORE DECEMBER 29TH

Starting Monday December 29th, Bear Mountain and Westhills in West Shore will get seven-day service.

The new route No. 52 will offer Colwood Bear Mountain service every 30 minutes in peak hours (6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.), while No. 57 Westhills will offer hourly service to the Langford Exchange.

The changes are among several upcoming “winter service improvements” made after receiving feedback from customers, front-line staff, major employers in Greater Victoria and local governments, B.C. Transit said in a statement.

Among the other changes:

  • Commuter service to Latoria Road and Happy Valley in the West Shore.
  • A new commuter service, the No. 71 Swartz Bay/Downtown, in west Sidney. The route will start at the Swartz Bay ferry terminal, then travel through West Sidney to the McTavish Transit Exchange. From there, the express bus will travel to downtown Victoria with limited stops.
  • Route No. 10 Royal Jubilee/ Songhees will no longer travel on Esquimalt Road but will offer more frequent service on Bay Street.
  • Esquimalt customers will have more trips to the University of Victoria on No. 15X UVic/ Esquimalt.
  • Increased service on No. 14 UVic/Victoria General Hospital to address “capacity issues and improve service reliability.”
  • Service on No. 25 Maplewood/ Colwood Exchange will be better aligned with school schedules to serve students in the Esquimalt area.
  • The Western Transit Exchange, adjacent to the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre, will be renamed the Colwood Transit Exchange.

B.C. Transit said the changes reflect the capital region’s 25-year Transit Future Plan.
