DFH Realtors Acknowledged for Contributions to Langford’s Affordable Housing Program

Mayor Young presented an Award of Merit to Megan John and Roy Banner of DFH Reality at the Regular meeting of Langford Council on Monday, January 20, 2014. John and Banner have donated a lot of their time and provided tremendous support to Langford's Affordable Housing Program.   The hard work and commitment provided by local Volunteer Realtors have played an instrumental role in the success of Langford's Affordable Housing Program, and is greatly appreciated by Council and Staff.

Volunteer Realtors help first-time homebuyers, selected to purchase affordable houses under Langford's Affordable Housing Program, through the process of buying their first home.  Since implementation of the Affordable Housing Program in 2004, more than 60 houses have been secured through rezoning, and 41 houses and eight apartment units have been built and sold.  There have also been four resales.  Volunteer Realtors have donated more than 420 hours of their time to the program and more than $390,000 in realtor fees.
