RM of Langford Approved for Infrastructure Stimulus Fund Funding
The Rural Municipality of Langford received approval for funding from the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund for the Ferguson Road Renewal Project. This road renewal project is funded 1/3 by the Government of Canada, 1/3 by the Province of Manitoba and 1/3 by the Rural Municipality of Langford. A portion Ferguson Road (80N) between Roads 84W and 85W requires extensive repair each spring due to frost boils and flooding as a result of the poorly functioning culverts in this wet area. Ferguson Road is one of the few all season roads in that area and experiences a lot of regular, farm and school bus traffic. The frost boils create unsafe travel conditions and cost the municipality large amounts of money to maintain. Immediate, long term repair for this road was required and just recently the road base was dug up and carpet laid. In the next few weeks, new culverts will be installed and the road base rebuilt. This renewal, along with regular maintenance, will ensure this area of Ferguson road remains safe and passable for at least another 25 years.
