Permits and Inspections
The City of Langford’s Building Department primary function is to administer and enforce the BC Building Code and City of Langford’s Building and Plumbing Bylaw No. 1160. This is accomplished by issuing permits and conducting inspections to ensure compliance with above. The Department also processes Board of Variance issues.

Building permits are issued for, but not limited to, construction projects that involve:
- erecting any new structure greater than 10 m2 or 107 ft2
- adding floor area and/or components to an existing structure
- finishing or altering the interior only of a structure
- moving or demolishing a structure
- any installation, alteration, or repair of sprinkler system (plumbing permit)
Inspections can be requested by calling (250) 474.6692 or by emailing building@langford.ca (requests received before noon will try to be accommodated for next day inspections)

Tenant Improvements
All contractors doing work in the City of Langford require a valid business license.
- Electrical and gas permits are issued by Technical Safety BC
